Japanese Genmaicha Tea
Genmaicha consists of Japanese tea leaves with toasted or roasted rice, which gives the tea a roasty nutty flavour. Traditionally, the addition of brown rice was added as a filler to stretch the remaining tea through winter till the next spring harvest. However, due to its nutty profile, Genmaicha grew in popularity. Green tea is added to smooth out the flavour which gives the tea a rich green hue.
